Through expert-led lectures and extensive hands-on scanning and needling practice, you’ll learn to perform the highest-yield nerve blocks for acute care.
Key Topics Covered:
Ultrasound Basics for Nerve Blocks*: Proper probe handling, needle guidance techniques, and safety protocols (preventing nerve injury and local anesthetic toxicity).
Neck & Truncal Blocks*: E.g. interscalene brachial plexus blocks for shoulder dislocations, serratus plane blocks for rib fractures, and TAP blocks for abdominal pain
Upper Extremity Blocks*: Supraclavicular and axillary blocks for arm injuries; nerve blocks for wrist/hand procedures to achieve immediate pain relief.
Lower Extremity Blocks*: Femoral and fascia iliaca blocks for hip fractures; popliteal sciatic and ankle blocks for leg and foot injuries
Program Implementation: How to integrate regional anesthesia into your clinical workflow – including setup, nursing considerations, and tips to “get your department up and running with regional analgesia”
